Leverkusen on the verge of Europa League final
2-0 win in Rome puts German side in command of semi-final tie
Leverkusen took a huge step towards the Europa League final after a deserved 2-0 first-leg win in their last-four clash against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.
The German side were good value for their victory, with Moussa Diaby and Florian Wirtz scoring the goals. Diaby opened the scoring in the first half, with Wirtz adding a second after the break.
Roma were disappointing, with Jose Mourinho's side failing to create many clear-cut chances. The Italian giants will need to produce a much-improved performance in the second leg if they are to reach the final.
