Major Drug Ring Targeted in Operation
Las Vegas, Nevada - On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) executed search warrants at multiple properties in Las Vegas, Nevada, resulting in the arrest of 45 individuals and the seizure of significant quantities of illicit drugs.
The operation, codenamed "Operation Desert Storm," targeted a major drug trafficking ring operating in the Las Vegas area. The investigation, which spanned several months, involved cooperation between the DEA, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and the Nevada State Police.
According to DEA Special Agent in Charge Daniel Comeaux, "This operation is a major blow to drug trafficking in Las Vegas. These arrests and the seizure of these illicit drugs will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the drug supply in our community."
The search warrants were executed simultaneously at several locations, including residences, warehouses, and storage units. Agents seized approximately 100 pounds of methamphetamine, 50 pounds of heroin, 25 pounds of cocaine, and assorted other illegal drugs.
The arrested individuals are facing various drug-related charges, including conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possession with intent to distribute. The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
