Thirty years after their final confrontation at the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament Johnny Lawrence is at rock-bottom as an unemployed handyman haunted by his wasted life..

As his life crumbles, Johnny wants nothing more than to make amends. Daniel LaRusso, Johnny's old nemesis, now runs a successful car dealership and has a loving family. Despite their past rivalry, Daniel agrees to help Johnny rebuild his life by becoming the sensei of the Cobra Kai dojo.

New Rivalries Emerge

With the Cobra Kai dojo back in operation, old rivalries are reignited and new ones emerge. Miguel Diaz, a shy and bullied teenager, becomes Johnny's first student and quickly develops a talent for karate. Sam LaRusso, Daniel's daughter, becomes a student of her father, and immediately faces off against Miguel. As the rivalry between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do Karate intensifies, old wounds are reopened and the lines between right and wrong become blurred.
