Oak Ridge Boys Member Joe Bonsall Dies at 76

Renowned Singer Passed Away Due to ALS

50-Year Member of Country Gospel Quartet

Country music has lost a legend with the passing of Joe Bonsall, a longstanding member of the Oak Ridge Boys. Bonsall, who joined the Grammy-winning group in 1973, dedicated over 50 years to their signature harmonies. He sadly succumbed at age 76 to complications from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Born in 1948, Bonsall's passion for music began early. In 1971, he replaced Shel Silverstein as bass singer and guitarist for the Oak Ridge Boys. His rich vocals and infectious energy became integral to their success, helping them achieve platinum-selling albums and countless chart-topping singles.

Bonsall also ventured into writing, co-authoring the autobiography "The Oak Ridge Boys: The Boys Are Back in Town." He was a beloved figure both on stage and off, known for his infectious smile and unwavering dedication to his fans.

His departure from the group in January 2023 due to ALS was met with heartfelt messages from his former bandmates and the country music community. Bonsall's legacy as a talented musician and cherished member of the Oak Ridge Boys will forever be remembered.
