MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Former Oregon cornerback and Minnesota Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson has tragically died in a car accident at the age of 24. The incident occurred in Prince George's County, Maryland, on Saturday just before 3:15 a.m.

Jackson was selected by the Vikings in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He was a standout player at Oregon, where he earned All-Pac-12 and All-American honors. Jackson was expected to compete for a starting role in Minnesota's defense this season.

The Vikings released a statement expressing their profound sadness over Jackson's passing. "Khyree was a talented player and a valued member of our team," the statement read. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time."

The Oregon Ducks also released a statement mourning the loss of their former player. "Khyree was an exceptional athlete and a true Oregonian," the statement said. "He will be deeply missed by our program and the entire Oregon football family."
