Bomb Threat Made At William Amos Hough High School, Cornelius, North Carolina

Bailey Middle School in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District, Cornelius was placed on lockdown after the district says a bomb threat was made at William Amos Hough High School. A student was later arrested.

The school district said it was notified about the threat around 11:30 Monday morning, April 11, 2023.

Bomb Threat Not Credible

The Cornelius Police Department investigated and determined the threat to be noncredible. However, police say they arrested a student for allegedly making the threat.

The school district said students and staff at Bailey Middle were safe and accounted for. The lockdown was lifted after about 45 minutes.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Cornelius Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
